Live Session: Charlie Wilson ‘A grown man with a lot of play left’

Uncle Charlie ”In It To Win It”

Eleven-time Grammy nominee Charlie Wilson (@imcharliewilson) blazed into 2017 with a hot new single “I’m Blessed” Ft. T.I. from his upcoming album release, “I’m In It To Win It” currently scorching the airwaves. His album drops February 17th led by the “In It To Win It” arena tour which kicked off February 8th, not to mention he celebrated a birthday at the end of January, one could say this is 2017s GRAND OPENING!!!

Last year’s Forever Charlie Tour sold out 97% of the arenas who booked this master the groove. Yeah, you have to call it a groove because the flow of his music is such that you just feel cool and ready to make some great memories.

It’s party time.

Why this album and tour right now?

“I have a lot of energy man and I can’t sit around too long because I start getting into trouble. I’ve got this little boy inside of me that loves to play.” Wilson continues, “I have some of my favorite entertainers on the record with me…I’m having a ball right now, it’s amazing…”

The tour, In It To Win It, is also the title of Wilson’s new album which is slated for release on February 17, 2017 and features musical guests Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Robin Thicke, Lalah Hathaway, T.I. and more. Wilson will be touring with Fantasia, Johnny Gill, and more.

Also joining Charlie on their first national U.S. tour is P Music Group’s pop music duo, Solero who have over 8 million views on their YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/SoleroTV. Their first single “Green Light” from their debut EP is scheduled for release February 2017. Check them out at www.solerobrothers.com.

What has made the largest change in the continuation and elevation of Charlie Wilson the entertainer?

“I remember I never used to pop my collar and I was just stagnant. So I started popping my collar and each time I did, something else happened good for me.”

Wilson’s thoughts on longevity surround being blessed to do what he loves…it’s as if music is air to him and as long as he can make great music, he’ll be In It To Win It.

He describes his philosophy as thus “This ride that I’m on is a marathon.” Wilson continues, “People are like…Man aren’t you tired?…and I’m like Dude, I ain’t running races, I’m running a marathon so I’m going to be here for awhile.” He goes on to firmly state that, “As long as I’m breathing, I’m going to be doing what I’m doing until God says it’s time to stop,” finishing, “I thank God everyday I wake up because, every day above ground is just a blessed day.”

Artists who are superstars in their own right, line up to work with Uncle Charlie, he’s made music not only with Snoop but Robin Thicke, Wiz Khalifa and so many more that it would be an editorial unto itself. Wilson’s thoughts on the subject are ones of appreciation for his gift even more because the amazingly talented creators want and enjoy making music with him.

He says, “I’ve been honored to have so many people still want to get down with me.”

Tune in to our conversation as the highly cherished entertainment mind of Wilson delves into his hopes for music as a whole and what part he looks to continue playing. Gracious at all times and full of contagious energy, Uncle Charlie, I feel ok saying that…he’s that cool uncle we ALL have that just keeps us amazed and smiling, that one you perhaps always wanted to hang out with more than your pops, but never said it!
