Live Session with Tynisha Keli:

As you see your self, who is Tynisha Keli?

I am a god fearing vessel on this earth who’s destined to bestow whichever knowledge I obtain/possess onto those who need it.

What brought you to the entertainment industry and music specifically?

I never intended on being an artist as a child. I only enjoyed singing as it was my escape from what was my reality which back then I was escaping the Abuse from my mom. Eventually, that turned into a thriving passion when my aunt who was like a mom to me was murdered. I fled home with my then manager Scott Ross who was a part of Mark Wahlberg’s funky bunch. He instantly took me under his wing and certainly placed me on this journey.

What and/or who influenced the sound you bring today?

Brandy. Boyz II Men. Faith Evans. Luther Vandross. Kim Burrell. Beyoncé.

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?

I’ve gained many success’ during my journey (which still continues) the pivotal moment to stay in this industry was the day I walked into Warner Brothers Records the first label we went to when we finished the EP and chairman Tom Whalley asked me what I wanted from them? I replied “I don’t want to struggle anymore” he looked at my producer and said “please don’t shop this anywhere else. We want her.” I was signed within weeks. I cried happiness and at the same time God spoke so loudly to me “Tynisha, I created you for this” that moment forward I became a sponge to build a work ethic.

What was the biggest obstacle in getting to your current career phase?

I’d say the biggest obstacle these days is the turn in style of “popular” music and incorporating my own creativity into that wave. Although I am a consumer I am still an artist, therefore I’m particular about my music and it’s messages.

What do you want people to get from your music?

I would like them to take whatever message I am attempting to convey through song. I want people to use my music as a crutch or a study guide to life, love & other things.

Tell us about your current project?

This current project is the best yet for me. Spiritually. Emotionally. Mentally. I feel like I have maturated to a point where I can create wisely. Not to discredit previous work I’ve done but we have to hone our craft consistently to be our greatest version of ourselves. This album is a chronologically ordered diary of my life path in between the industry.

What do you feel has been your greatest life achievement so far?

My greatest achievement in my life personally is having been able to break family chains that have rotated for decades. I don’t come from a well-built home considering my dad was murdered when I was 9 months old my mother was a single parent of 4. Having a career set me on a completely different concourse than my lineage. All are Gods plan not our own.

If you could collaborate with one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

Of all the people on my list, I’d have to choose Daniel Caesar. His tone. Diction… let’s just say he’s phenomenal. His pen game is out of this stratosphere to add a cherry on top of all that.

If you had to pick one song of yours, that really explains YOU, what would it be?

Misunderstood. There will be a misunderstood pt2 on this project as well 😉

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

When I was asked if I wanted to try some chicken butt at a restaurant in another country. But, apparently, that’s where they do that at lol
