A Q&A With New York City Rapper – Gramzunkut

I had the opportunity to sit down with “Five Borough Thorough” king Gabriel Baez aka “Gramzunkut” to talk about how living in NYC has influenced his music, his industry experience, and his advice for young artists. Gramzunkut turned to movies, books and listening to music at a young age. This NYC-native would listen to the likes of Slick Rick, BDP and NWA which greatly influenced his sound. He’s performed alongside Jay-Z, Chief Keef, Benny the Butcher, Uncle Murda, Cassidy, and many more on stages across the country. The thrill of the live show is what kept him pursuing music long term. He loves staying connected to his fans and hopes you’ll continue to follow his journey forward in music!

You’ve put out a total of four projects. Is there one project in particular that you’re the most proud of? And why?

I like the best of Kelo aka Gramzunkut of Globalthugz because it showcases my growth into a solo artist.

How do you feel NYC has influenced your style of rap & do you think people know you’re from NY simply by hearing your music?

I’m a “boom dap boom boom dap” rapper  you can definitely can tell I’m from NYC by hearing my flow no matter what type of beat I’m on and NYC has not only influenced me but the whole world I think the Message & Beat Street by Melle Mel are the best hip-hop / rap songs ever.

What is the most defining factor of NY Hip Hop?

Confidence & ya aura / drip

You’ve performed all over the country; do you have a favorite performance and why?

Shit I love being in the mud pit of underground artist showcases doing a new record anywhere just that energy of everybody there waiting to showcase their music is krazy.

You’ve been on stage with some huge names like Jay-Z and Chief Keef. What were those experiences like and was there one in particular that stood out to you?

Different stages like the teen early concerts are cool because them kids energy is thru the roof wit no alcohol so my energy different compared to a huge gangsta concert where everything that’s where I like to be ya dig.

What is your favorite song that you have ever written and why?

I like “lyrical therapy” (last twenty four) joint. It’s just real personal thoughts shared wit my listeners

What kind of impact do you want your music to have on the world?

Have a lot of fun, be loving & stay militant ya know. Just to make someone have more faith in themselves period in all walks of life & to learn to enjoy every hour like it’s ya last.

What’s next for you in 2020? Will we be hearing more music?

I got music dropping every month for 2020 music videos etc also my #DippinDoenutz clothes & products ya know just doing productive
