The Hype Magazine got TiaCorine to weigh in on a few things

From the outside looking in who is TiaCorine?
TiaCorine is just a free person. I do what I want with love and fuck everyone else. I’m a perfectionist and I’m continuously trying to outdo myself.

Was there a defining moment that brought you to the music business?
My defining moment was my hit single Lotto went viral on Tiktok and then Charlemagne Tha God shouted me out on The Breakfast Club. I knew then my life was about to change! Labels started calling, famous artists were shouting me and making videos to my song and then I started playing on my hometowns radio station 102jamz… things went uphill from there!

Tell us about your current project and what it means for you!
My current project, 34Corine, is literally a tribute to my city and everyone who supported me. 34 stands for tre-4 which is Winston-Salem, where I was born and raised. When I’m in Winston random people approach me and tell me how proud they are, I’m carrying Winston on my back and I’m going to put our city on the map. So basically I’m the queen of 34 and I’m like the city’s hero.

Also, this is my very first project and I’ve been speaking about dropping a project for two years…and right before I actually started putting a tracklist together I had this feeling like “yeahhh it’s time” I felt great about everything I’ve been making and I knew I was ready. The flowers are very significant, so if you’ve ever heard of the saying “give her your flowers” that’s exactly what the flowers being handed to me mean. For a while and still now, I feel like I’ve been slept on and I know I’m different than these female artists down from the beat choices, my voice, my flow to my videos, they aren’t doing it like me. So I felt like when I drop this EP like y’all gotta give me my flowers like you gotta respect it at this point there’s no denying it I’m IT.

Your early single “Mine” produced by Sonny Digital caught on like wildfire…has that had a chance to sink in yet?
Honestly, no like literally none of this has hit me yet. I’m still like “ ok that’s cool what’s next” because I know this is the smallest part of my big career so I’m just staying focused and making sure I keep topping myself so I can reach that Rihanna level.

Tell us the most satisfying thing about making music for you?
Finishing my song and sitting back like wow I really just made that. Amazing myself knowing I recorded myself and wrote everything on my own it’s like wow Ima fucking genius! Haha

What do you want people to get from your music?
I want them to feel me. I want them to feel the positive energy I put into my music and to feel good about themselves and just add more positive energy to their life! I also want people to see the weird stuff I’m doing to learn to just be yourself and do what YOU want to do. Being daring and go out on the ledge and that there are no rules to making music do as you feel…be you!

What is your greatest passion outside of music?
My greatest passion is being a mom! My daughter is literally my twin and she wants to be just like me so to be able to show her the ropes while being successful is amazing it’s wild.. idk how I do it.

What’s been your craziest WTF moment thus far in your career?
My craziest wtf moment was when SZA followed me lol I LOVEEEE her music like I feel her words and I’m just like wow she inspired me sooo much throughout the years, while I was still growing and recording so it was like what the fuckkk SHE follows ME!? haha crazy.
