Jeffrey Reddick On Directing “Don’t Look Back,” Producing “The Call,” The “Final Destination” Franchise, Career Goals & More

Wikipedia is not fully wrong when it states: “Jeffrey Reddick is an American screenwriter and film director, best known for creating the Final Destination franchise.” However, Reddick has not stopped working over the last 20-something years, regularly writing, directing and/or producing projects for film and television. Prior to finding success on the creative end, Reddick worked on the studio side of the film business, as employed by legendary studio New Line Cinema for over a decade.
In October 2020, Jeffrey Reddick has 2 new projects to speak of. In Don’t Look Back — as written and directed by Reddick, his directorial debut — Caitlin Kramer is a woman overcoming a tragic past, among several people who see a man being fatally assaulted. When the witnesses start dying mysteriously, she must unearth if they’re being targeted by a killer or something far more insidious. In The Call, which Reddick produced, a group of small-town friends must survive the night in the home of a sinister couple after a tragic accident occurs. Needing only to make a single phone call, the request seems horribly ordinary until they realize that this call could change their life… or end it; for fans of 1980s-style horror flicks, keep in mind that The Call takes place in the fall of 1987.
On October 5, 2020, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jeffrey Reddick via Zoom, as embedded below. We spoke about both Don’t Look Back and The Call, in addition to Reddick’s multi-faceted career, some of the obstacles he overcame to make a career in entertainment happen, future plans and plenty more.
