0Stryper’s Michael Sweet On His December 19th Live-Stream Concert, Future Recording Plans, Chris Jericho, Influences & More
Stryper founder and frontman Michael Sweet will be performing his 5th annual Christmas concert via VenueNet, a brand new premier social platform for concert live-streaming, on December 19, 2020 at 7:00 PM EST. This fully-interactive concert experience aims to bring the spirit of Christmas and the music you love right to your laptop or mobile device. Sweet’s Christmas show has been a success for years in the Massachusetts area, but now fans across the globe will have an opportunity like never before to be a part of this yearly celebration, as featuring original music and Christmas classics — with a twist — from the newly-opened Bank Of New Hampshire Stage in Concord, New Hampshire.
Michael Sweet’s Christmas concert is far from the only thing going on for him. Stryper released a new album in September, arguably its heaviest album to date, Even The Devil Believes; he put out a new solo album titled Ten the previous year. Stryper is scheduled to be part of the next Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager At Sea cruise, as scheduled for October 2021. Prior to that, Sweet has a few side projects slated to be recorded in 2021, including work with L.A. Guns co-founder Tracii Guns, Dokken guitarist George Lynch — as part of Sweet & Lynch — and Whitesnake guitarist Joel Hoekstra.
On December 18, 2020, I had the pleasure of interviewing Michael Sweet via Zoom, as embedded below. We talked about the December 19th livestream, future recording plans, Chris Jericho, his aforementioned Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager At Sea, Van Halen and plenty more.
