0Lynn Davis On The New Film “Meltdown,” Working With “The Last Dance” Producer Mike Tollin, Future Plans & More
Lynn Davis is an American photographer widely-known for her large-scale black-and-white photographs, which are widely-collected publicly and privately and are frequently exhibited internationally. Davis’ first exhibition hung at New York City’s International Center of Photography in 1979, alongside her close friend Robert Mapplethorpe. After her first trip to Greenland, in 1986, she gave up photographing the human form, shifting her lens toward the monumental landscapes and cultural/architectural icons for which she has been renowned and successful for decades.
The new documentary Meltdown was released on February 13, 2021, and takes viewers on a once-in-a-lifetime journey to the magnificent icebergs of Greenland. Led by Lynn Davis and climate change expert Tony Leiserowitz, this film captures the disastrous meltdown of the polar ice caps like never before and explores the far-reaching implications for our planet. It was notably produced by Mike Tollin, one of the executive producers of The Last Dance, which was arguably the most popular documentary series of 2020 — or at least the sports documentary series of 2020.
On February 18, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Lynn Davis via Zoom, as embedded below. More on Davis is online here, while more on Meltdown can be found here and here.
