0Dwayne De Rosario On His New Book “DeRo: My Life,” Post-Soccer Projects, Family Life & More
DeRo: My Life is the long-awaited autobiography of Dwayne De Rosario, as slated for a May 11, 2021 release in North America via ECW Press. One of the most decorated Canadian athletes of our generation, De Rosario was a 4-time MLS Cup Champion, 2-time MLS Cup MVP (2001, 2007) and 2011 MLS MVP. In turn, it should not be surprising that De Rosario was featured within the “top 25 best players of all time in the MLS” list that was published and widely-discussed last year.
But life was not always so easy and high-profile for Dwayne De Rosario. Growing up as 1 of 5 family members in a 1-bedroom apartment in Scarborough, Ontario, DeRo had to work for everything he had. Sometimes that meant doing things he did not want to do. In his autobiography, Dwayne De Rosario shares how his inner-city, Caribbean Canadian upbringing shaped the hungry, superstar athlete and champion he became. DeRo: My Life — as penned with broadcaster Brendan Dunlop and featuring a foreword by boxing legend Lennox Lewis — tells DeRo’s story with great detail.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Dwayne De Rosario via Zoom on May 7, 2021 via Zoom, as embedded below. More on DeRo and his book can be found here, here, here and here.
