Harvey Guillén On His New Film “Werewolves Within,” “What We Do In The Shadows” & More

In Werewolves Within, a proposed pipeline creates divisions within the small town of Beaverfield and a snowstorm traps its residents together inside the local inn. Newly-arrived forest ranger Finn (played by Sam Richardson) and postal worker Cecily (played by Milana Vayntrub) must try to keep the peace and uncover the truth behind a mysterious creature that has begun terrorizing the community. As noted by director Mishna Wolff about the film, which also stars Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story, Michaela Watkins (Wanderlust), Harvey Guillén What We Do In The Shadows, Michael Chernus (Orange Is The New Black), George Basil (Crashing), Sarah Burns (Barry), Catherine Curtain Stranger Things, Rebecca Henderson (Russian Doll) and Glenn Fleshler (Joker): “As much as this movie is an homage to my love for Hot Fuzz, the Coen Brothers, and Arachnophobia, it’s also about the monster in all of us.

The aforementioned Harvey Guillén has appeared in recurring roles such as Alistair Delgado on Huge, Cousin Blobbin on The Thundermans, George Reyes in Eye Candy, and Benedict Pickwick on The Magicians before being cast as Guillermo, the vampires’ human familiar, in the FX television series What We Do In The Shadows. And notably that turn as Guillermo earned a “Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series” nomination from the Critics’ Choice Television Awards in 2021. He has also been seen in Quibi’s science fiction drama series Don’t Look Deeper, which has moved to the Roku Channel.

On June 25, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Harvey Guillén via Zoom, as embedded below. More on Guillén and Werewolves Within — which is now available in select theaters and will be released on Digital and VOD on July 2, 2021 — can be found by clicking here, here and here.
