IMPACT Wrestling Star Matt Cardona On “Slammiversary,” Podcasting With Brian Myers, DDPY, Long Island, Music & More

IMPACT Wrestling has started off 2021 strong, recently making headlines with this month’s Against All Odds pay-per-view. IMPACT’s next big televised event will be Slammiversary on July 17, 2021, as airing via the IMPACT Plus! network. Meanwhile, IMPACT Wrestling itself — which airs on Tuesday nights at 8:00 PM EST / 7:00 PM CST, as preceded by the Before The Impact program and followed by the IMPACT In 60 program — is regularly the highest-rated show on the AXS TV network.

One of the IMPACT stars who has people talking is Matt Cardona. Although Cardona is only in his mid-30s, he made his televised wrestling debut more than 15 years ago in 2005. Cardona debuted within IMPACT Wrestling in early 2021, defeating Ace Austin by disqualification within a surprise appearance at Hard To Kill. He has since been feuding with former tag team partner Brian Myers. And while on the topic of Myers, Cardona and Myers are the co-founders of the very-successful podcast hub The Major Pod Network, for which Cardona co-hosts several shows. As a podcaster, Cardona is in rare company as someone whose live podcast events often draw big, paying crowds.

On June 30, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Matt Cardona via Zoom, as embedded below. Besides IMPACT Wrestling and podcast-related matters, we discussed Diamond Dallas Page and DDPY, Long Island, work ethic, future goals and music. More on Cardona can be found here, here and here.
