“Creation Stories” Director Nick Moran On Alan McGee, Oasis, Ride, Future Projects & More

Creation Stories is the true story of Alan McGee. “Who is Alan McGee?” Simply put, a man from a relatively-impoverished upbringing, who — against all odds — built a record label from nothing, which yielded the world’s biggest rock band of the 1990s, Oasis. And along the way there was bankruptcy, heartache, mental breakdowns, dinners with world leaders like Tony Blair and Bill Clinton, treachery, treason, drugs, sex, anarchy, and lots of money. Creation Stories tells McGee’s story in depth for the first time, including his time managing The Jesus & Mary Chain and working with My Bloody Valentine.

As directed by Nick Moran, Creation Stories premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. It will be streaming on AMC+ and available via all key on-demand and digital outlets this Friday, February 25, 2022. Moran, one could argue, is as interesting as the film’s subject, Alan McGee. Moran first found international film success via playing Eddie in Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels. Major film roles in the years since have included Parts 1 and 2 of Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows and The Musketeer. His first success as a director came with Telstar, as followed by the film adapation of The Kid.

On February 17, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Nick Moran via Zoom, as embedded below; our previous audio-based conversation from June 2021 is also below. More on Moran and Creation Stories can be found online by clicking over to RLJE Films’ accounts: here, here, here and here.
