Howard Jones On His February 2022 U.S. Shows, His “Live At Union Chapel” Album & More

Howard Jones first made in the early 1980s, scoring big with his first two albums Human’s Lib and Dreams Intro Action. Jones has sold over eight million albums worldwide, and his list of hits includes “New Song,” “What Is Love?,” “Things Can Only Get Better,” “Life In One Day,” “No One Is To Blame,” and “Like To Get To Know You Well.” His catalog continues to be regularly utilized within film and telvision projects, including placements in recent years within Stranger Things, Breaking Bad, Watchmen, The Carrie Diaries, Superstore and Bumblebee, beyond performing on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

In advance of his upcoming album, Live At Union Chapel, Howard Jones is set to return to the United States for rescheduled dates with his Acoustic Trio this month. Originally set for 2020, these intimate stripped-down shows are a trip through Jones’ full career. Featuring Jones on electric piano, Robin Boult (Roger Daltrey, Dave Stewart, Fish) on acoustic guitar and Nick Beggs (Kajagoogoo, Belinda Carlisle, John Paul Jones) on chapman stick, these shows not only deliver a fresh take on the British native’s best-known hits, but also provide the opportunity for the audience to hear stories about these songs. The aforementioned Live At Union Chapel is scheduled for a Spring 2022 release, while Jones does have plans to record a followup studio album to 2019’s Transform album in the near-future.

On February 4, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Howard Jones via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond Live At Union Chapel, we spoke about his upcoming tour dates — a run which kicks off in Ithaca next week and include shows in Boston, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia — and his future recording plans. More on Jones can be found online by clicking here, here, here and here.
