0J.C. The Eternal (Of P.M. Dawn Fame)
This past Sunday, TV One’s original music biography docu-series, UNSUNG, profiled one of the most well deserving, successful alternative Hip Hop duos of all-time, P.M. Dawn.
Comprised of biological brothers, the late great Attrell Cordes – professionally known as Prince Be the Nocturnal – and Jarrett Cordes (f.k.a. DJ Minutemix), the Jersey City, New Jersey, hit-making group topped the charts in the early ‘90’s with signature tunes, “Set Adrift on Memory Bliss” which is built around a sample of Spandau Ballet’s “True,” and “I’d Die Without You, taken from the Boomerang soundtrack.
P.M. Dawn would go on to release – on Gee Street Records – four studio albums, the platinum selling Of the Heart, of the Soul and of the Cross: The Utopian Experience in 1991, ‘93’s gold certified The Bliss Album…?, Jesus Wept in 1995 and ‘98’s Dearest Christian, I’m So Very Sorry for Bringing You Here. Love, Dad, before quietly disbanding.
Sadly, Prince Be lost his battle with diabetes on June 17th 2016, at the all-too-young age of 46, leaving behind a wife, Mary Sierra-Cordes, and three children: Mia, Christian and Brandon.
The HYPE Magazine caught up with surviving member, Eternal, on the eve of the unveiling of their UNSUNG episode…
