0“A Discovery Of Witches” Star Tom Hughes On The New Film “Shepherd,” Music & More
This week, Saban Films released the thriller/horror film Shepherd to theaters on May 6th and to on-demand and digital outlets on May 10th. The film was notably directed and written by Russell Owen (Inmate Zero) and stars Tom Hughes, Kate Dickie (The Green Knight), Gaia Weiss (Vikings) and Greta Scacchi (The Terror, War & Peace). Haunted by the recent death of his wife, widower Eric Black (played by Tom Hughes) seeks solitude as a shepherd on a remote Scottish island. As the bleak desolation of the landscape and terrifying visions begin to overwhelm him, Eric is pushed to the brink of madness.
Shepherd aside, the aforementioned Tom Hughes is renowned for his roles as Prince Albert in the ITV drama Victoria, Joe Lambe in the BBC drama The Game and Christopher Marlow in AMC’s A Discovery Of Witches. Hughes has also portrayed Michael Rogers in Agatha Christie’s Marple, Jonty Millingden in the ITV drama Trinity, Chaz Jankel in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, Bruce Pearson in Cemetery Junction, and Nick Slade in the BBC legal drama Silk. Prior to that, Hughes was a member of the Cheshire Youth Theatre and the Jigsaw Music Theatre Company and had graduated from the Royal Academy Of Dramatic Art.
On May 4, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Tom Hughes via Zoom, as embedded below. More on Hughes, Saban Films and Shephred can be found online by clicking here, here and here.
