AI Developments Are Having a Rapid Impact on Music Industry

Artificial intelligence has been gradually sweeping the world and, for better or worse, it’s now beginning to permeate the music industry. Various AI tools can do everything from master and mix sound to imitate the sounds of famous artists.

Ludwig van Beethoven is the latest iconic figure to get the AI treatment, and he surely won’t be the last. While some musicians may not be excited about AI’s growing influence, some practical applications could enhance several industries.

Beethoven the Latest Legend to Meet AI

Beethoven had an incredible impact on the evolution of music during his tenure in the late 18th Century and early 19th Century. Unfortunately, some of his work was left unfinished, however, and most people expected to never hear the finished product. That was until AI came along to save the day.

According to a recent report, Beethoven has now had the AI treatment, which involved a project to complete the artist’s unfinished 10th Symphony. To do this, the machine had to be trained on all of Beethoven’s previous works so that it can understand the legacy of the German composer. After the AI had finished the composition, it was available for orchestras to perform.

AI can be used to as a great assistance tool to musicians, helping them solve problems and figure out ideas that they may not have been able to come up with alone. Like with other industries, AI could be here to work alongside artists and make their lives easier, rather than replace them.

A prime example of this is in content creation. Currently, people who make videos on social media platforms need to be careful with licenses when they post their content. This has led to a lot of creators using the same backing tracks to their reels with a distinct lack of originality on offer. AI music generators like Mubert and Soundful give users the chance to input some commands and make their own music that can be used alongside videos without any need to worry about legalities.

This could be a game-changer for the digital marketing sector as well. Online advertisers rely on music as one of the key ways to get people to engage with their videos and encourage them to click the link. Being able to generate a track that instantly appeals to the marketer’s dream target audience could be highly effective.

The online casino industry is another place that could witness a rise in AI generated music. Some of the most iconic games of all time have achieved that status through their memorable soundtracks, and AI could assist with this. Rainbow Riches, for example, was first introduced to the casino industry before the internet, and its playful soundtrack has helped it to remain a mainstay at online iGaming sites. There’s even a Megaways version of the entertainment offering now, highlighting the brand’s enduring popularity.

What are the Biggest Developments in AI Music to Date?

One of the main ways that AI could push the music industry forward is in the creation of new genres. Some of the world’s biggest companies such as Spotify are putting plans in place to generate music that most likely appeals to their audiences. AI will assist in the research for this by collecting a vast amount of listening information and then generate the tracks.

Other tools have emerged to assist artists in the song creation process, such as Google’s Magenta. This gives musicians the chance to evolve alongside AI and possibly use it to come up with new concepts of their own.

AI isn’t here to replace modern artists like Ariana Grande and Eric Benét, but it will help them with their ideas and evolution. The most likely application of AI music tools will be in other industries where creators need to generate original music quickly.
