WHOAA Reimagines “Time After Time” with Electrifying Twist

WHOAA, one of the most exciting groups in the music scene to me personally, has put their unique spin on the quintessential 80s pop classic “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper and Rob Hyman. Reprising it with an energetic, electronic anthemic feel, this rendition seamlessly transitions from R&B dance workouts to upbeat pop dance playlists.

A Fusion of Nostalgia and Innovation

With “Time After Time,” WHOAA captured the nostalgic vibe of 90s skating rinks while infusing the energy of EDM festivals. Drawing from Atlanta bass music and Jersey drill influences, they combined Pop R&B vocal stylings with fiery rap verses to create a fresh take on this beloved classic.

It should be pointed out from the very beginning, that this is a miracle story unfolding before our very eyes…organically! From celebrating placement on MTV of their historic music video for “Saturday Fun” which features the animatronic band from Chuckee Cheese fame, to their cosign from music icon Paul Hardcastle who cleared a sample of his music “Rain Forest” for their use on “Weekend Song (Hey DJ), the music video for which is in rotation 3-times daily at the 5 Towers Stage at LA’s Universal City Walk…wait there’s more (catches breath to continue).

What Does Organic Mean for Whoaa?

When I say organic, it means something, these kids have an incredible story including being educators in the LAUSD, dedicating their teaching skills to special needs students. I mention this because, the same care and attention they lovingly provide to their students is the same care and attention they give to each and every record I’ve heard from the duo of Ring and Dolla…I’m not the only one…getting clearances from Paul Hardcastle and Harry Fox Agency for songs considered essential to the fabric of music and represent defining moments in global icon’s careers is telling. With no money for promo, these dynamos are the poster children for being in the trenches…

Listen to Dolla describe their grind and blessings in putting things together for their “Five Nights at Freddy’s” inspired campaign for their single “Hey Freddy“:

Paying Homage Via Top-Tier Production and Collaboration

WHOAA cut no corners ensuring the highest quality for their rendition which is produced by The Martians and Milwaukee Black, whose credits include collaborations with industry heavyweights like Nas and George Clinton, the track boasts professional, sleek, and highly polished sound, showing the respect due to the evergreen joint.

The clearance for this single follows another RARE sample clearance from music icon Paul Hardcastle for his hit “Rain Forest” in their hit joint “Weekend Song” (Hey DJ). The icon even did a virtual personal appearance discussing the the group why he personally agreed to the use of the sample…this is as good a bona fide as one can get in the industry!
