0Fastest Land Animal’s John Cusimano, Andrew Meskin & Jonny Blaze On Their New Album, The Cringe, Future Plans & More
Isolation. Conflagration. Tribulation. None of these roadblocks could slow down the Fastest Land Animal as the band raced to release its eponymous debut. How these resilient rockers overcame these trials to make their musical mark is a tale for another time. Until recently, the enigmatic trio was rumored to be living in the basement of Los Angeles’ Sunset Marquis Hotel, only coming out at night.
Last week, the mystery around Fastest Land Animal was disspelled as the group was revealed to be the brainchild of frontman John Cusimano, drummer Andrew Meskin and multi-instrumentalist Jonny Blaze. The New York-based musicians have all been members of The Cringe, a band which has toured alongside Motley Crue, Alice Cooper and plenty of other hard rock greats. However, Fastest Land Animal shows off more Queens Of The Stone Age and Eagles Of Death Metal influence — than that of the Crue, Cooper or other glam heroes — on its recently-released, 9-track, full-length, self-titled album.
On March 8, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with John Cusimano, Andrew Meskin and Jonny Blaze via Zoom, as embedded below. We not only spoke about Fastest Land Animal and The Cringe, but also New York sports teams and musical influences. More on Fastest Land Animal is online at www.fastestlandanimal.band and/or www.facebook.com/flabandofficial.
