0American Nomads’ Richard Humann On The Woodstock Scene, Working With Producer Joe Vitale, Future Plans & More
American Nomads is a New York-based roots-rock band with classic country influences. Its lineup consists of Walter Kenul on lead vocals and keyboards, Dante DeLemos on lead vocals and guitar, Susan Darmiento on lead and background vocals, Joseph Humann on harmonica and percussion, George LaGrange on guitar and background vocals, Joe Conoscenti on drums, Jay Rivera on bass and background vocals, and Gerald Menke on pedal steel. Kenul and DeLemos formed the group along with lyricist Richard Humann, who is also an in-demand American neo-conceptual artist.
Back in 2019, American Nomads premiered its music video for “1969” at the 50th Anniversary Woodstock Festival at Bethel Woods. More recently in December 2020, American Nomads released a music video for “Running On An Empty Heart,” which already has over 43,000 views on YouTube. All the while, American Nomads has been working on new material with producer Joe Vitale, who notably wrote and/or performed with The Eagles, Crosby Stills & Nash, Joe Walsh, Al Kooper and Bill Wyman.
On February 24, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Richard Humann via Zoom, as embedded below. More on Humann and American Nomads can be found online at www.americannomadsband.com, www.facebook.com/AmericanNomadsBand and www.twitter.com/american_nomads and/or www.richardhumann.com.
