Jake Clemons on His “We The People” Single, Turning 40, Life During COVID-19, Plans & More
Last December, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jake Clemons released a remix of “We The People, a song and video that speaks to the belief that our nation should represent the certain unalienable rights of all people, that we are all created equal, that we are stronger as a whole and that our rights as a collective whole deserve to be defended. Commented Clemons of the song, which was originally featured on his studio album Eyes On The Horizon: “I wrote ‘We The People’ because I am sick of all of the division and all of the hatred being spewed. I wanted to remind people that the ideas that our country were founded on were ones of moral commitments, pushing towards a more perfect union.” “We The People” was remixed by Matt Musty and mastered by Chris Dugan (Green Day, U2), while its accompanying music video was shot in Canada and edited by Mark Rashotte.
The aforementioned Eyes On The Horizon was produced by Jake Hull and Clemons and mixed by legendary and award winning producer Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Beatles). The 10-song collection is far from the only thing going on for Clemons, who has been a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band for close to a decade. Clemons’ performance credits also include Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, The Swell Season and The Roots, while Eyes On The Horizon was a proper followup to his 2017 studio effort Fear & Love.
