Comedian Erica Rhodes On Her New “La Vie En Rhodes” Special, Life During COVID-19 & More

At the age of 10, Erica Rhodes started her career in entertainment by voicing the conscience of Garrison Keillor on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion, working for the show for many years to come. She would later find success as an actress for a variety of film and television projects (e.g. Modern Family, New Girl, Veep, Comedy Central’s @ Midnight), being nominated by the 2015 Los Angeles Short Film Festival as “Best Actress” for her work in The Platinum Plan. But stand-up comedy is where Rhodes has been most successful, becoming a headliner at top clubs and a featured act at festivals all over the United States, while her debut album Sad Lemon hit #1 on the iTunes comedy charts.

La Vie En Rhodes is the new comedy special from Erica Rhodes, as released earlier this week. Produced by Comedy Dynamics and Tribeca Enterprises, La Vie En Rhodes was taped as part of a socially-distanced, drive-in series of stand-up shows outside Pasadena, California’s Rose Bowl. Within this acclaimed and very unique special, Rhodes tackles a variety of topics, including non-motivational quotes, emoji etiquette, political correctness, bad grammar and narcissistic exes.

On April 14, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Erica Rhodes via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond La Vie En Rhodes, we talked about life during COVID-19, having other comics for friends, future plans and plenty more. More on Rhodes and La Vie En Rhodes can be found here, here and here.
