Live Session With 9x GRAMMY-Nominated Producer Kosine on His Debut EP ‘Truth Serum’

Stepping out from behind the boards onto center stage, Marcos Palacios, professionally known as Kosine the 9x GRAMMY Award-Nominated producer, brings us his debut project Truth Serum, an offering that was seven years in the making he tells The Hype Magazine. This project’s content spans an expanse as wide as the San Francisco bridge as it brings us into his life, its pain, triumphs, and self-realization. The project also includes the timeless masterpiece that is Kings featuring the inimitable Idris Elba, a song about legacy, celebrating Black Kings, and the metaphorical game of chess that has been an essential aspect of their life, according to the song’s description on YouTube.

The official line on Kosine’s pedigree touts collaborations with Justin Bieber (Eenie Meenie), Sean Kingston, Big Sean (Dance (A$$)), Rihanna and Chris Brown (Birthday Cake), and Nicki Minaj (Anaconda), as well as NAS, among many others. With nine GRAMMY nominations, there is no doubt this young lion has the magic touch on the boards as part of the production duo Da Internz and as a singular force.

Not only does he rule as a producer, but he’s also known for co-hosting on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio and BET’s Mancave, and in 2020 he rolled out the Fox Soul streaming series Kingz with Kosine.

To add to his already glowing resume, Kosine also worked as a soundtrack producer on the television series Empire and Star, where he makes his acting debut in season three taking him to quadruple threat status.

Soooo…producer, rapper, show host, and actor…what else can we expect from this explosive talent?! Who knows but in speaking with him I was left with the feeling that no stone will be left unturned and the possibilities are endless for Kosine in any direction he chooses to move. A treasure trove of experience within the industry, both good and bad, have lifted him up to a level that many only dream, but during our conversation which you will get to hear below, he shared his humble pie season which made way for him to meet himself again and regain that which gave him such an amazing beginning.

He tells us that after blowing up in Hollywood he began to live up to his nickname which happened to BE Hollywood and all of a sudden, his phone stopped ringing and he went through a questioning period, not completely understanding why it was happening…why wasn’t he hot anymore? This caused him to return home to Chicago and regain his composure, collect his thoughts and let God work his plan because, as I took it from what he was telling me during our conversation, he’d simply gotten beside himself and was getting in his own way. It seems that as soon as he calmed down, LOL, things began to materialize once again, and though he’d gotten to be a bit much according to one of his former assistants, he’d been the type of person that had earned the love of others and doors were still open…so HE began making some calls and before you know it he’s onto a project of his own which is Truth Serum.

Kosine announced his debut project Truth Serum shortly after his recent singles ‘Transparency’ ft. Jeremih & “Settle” feat. Leon Thomas which are kicking up dust on all platforms right now. The overall project is a clearing of the throat so to speak as Kosine readies to take flight as an artist. A measure of trust in others he may not have exhibited before makes this project very special to him as he accepts songs and production from friends and peers and lays out some very heavy thoughts…he’s also quite honest and heartfelt in joints like Put It On Me and Deal With Me. Nope…I’m not going to review the album but I’m going to add it below for you to experience for yourself.
