Best-selling author of I’m Still Old Fashioned!, Markita D. Collins is an entrepreneur, licensed minister, ordained prophet, certified life coach, celebrity advisor, international motivational speaker, relationship strategist, visionary and leader of Unbreakable Moments, Sound, Co-Founder of The Unbreakable Experience Conference, Sista KODE conference.

Based in Pennsylvania, Markita’s great passion is to help pull people out of dark places, remind them of who they are, and are yet to become. She has launched a mentorship community named “Heal While You Build,” a safe place where women, and teens’ lives are transformed. The community focuses on personal growth, spiritual development, and maximizing their potential. Through countless testimonials, Markita demonstrates how she uses her stories and testimony to break women, both young and mature, out of bad patterns and cycles. Her goal is to impact as many lives as possible, by showing them how they can have a blessed life and not compromise their morals, and character to get things, positions, seats, platforms etc. It all starts with one experience that can literally change your whole world.

We sat down to ask Markita to share some gems about her journey as an author, entrepreneur, minister, and black mompreneur:

Hi, Markita it is so nice to interview you today, Please tell us how did Heal While You Build come about? We would love to hear about it.

Well, it came about when I saw there was a need for people (women specifically) to find a safe place to grow, mature, have support, and be mentored. I wanted them to heal in their soul, their body, relationships, and their finances. I would talk daily and answer so many questions concerning the life of a woman.

We wear so many different hats that when it comes to our inner peace, healing, transformation, and growth it tends to take a back seat. I help women deal with them so they can be better overall.

What would you like our readers to know about what you are currently working on or have coming up?

Currently, I’m working on a podcast with my amazing husband Shaun. It will be dropping soon. At the moment I’m closing the year out mentoring and traveling to several different cities speaking and preaching. I love how in spite of what was going on during the pandemic we can still end our year strong doing what we love.

In what ways do you feel you make a difference in the world?

I make a difference by just showing up. This is what I mean. I’m a problem solver. God uses me to help people solve problems. I serve. I’m here to be a blessing to my community locally and virtually. I also believe that I’m manifesting and being an example to women as well. I went through heartache, abuse, divorce, bullying, self-sabotage just to name a few. Overcoming those things has positioned me to pull others out of those places. I make a difference in the world by not compromising my faith and belief in Jesus while still living a fulfilled life.

I don’t pretend, I live an authentic life publicly and show women you can have it all through GOD. Love, Peace, Money, and more.

What are some of the most memorable moments in your career so far?

Honestly writing my first book “I’m Still Old Fashioned.” To write that and sell the books and be a 2x bestseller just blessed me beyond words. You see I am considered dyslexic and it was never in the views of others that I would be able to be a keynote speaker, author, let alone a licensed minister. To meet women and men and they are thanking me for the book, going live on social media, or hearing me speak at an event truly is one of the greatest moments for me ever.

Another one I need to mention is that I’ve lost over 125lbs and that journey helped my career go to another level and my confidence skyrocket. Aye!

How do you balance your career and family life?

To be honest I don’t balance. I prioritize what gets my focus and attention at that moment. Number one, my husband and kids are my ministries. They come before everything and everybody. If my house isn’t right, things don’t go right in my opinion. Because I don’t chase the “bag” I’m free to again focus on what needs my attention.

I think it’s super important to now try to “balance”, something or someone will be affected in a negative way when we do that.

What do you enjoy most about the work that you do?

What I enjoy most about what I do are the testimonies I get for my work as a mentor/coach/minister/prophet/author! I mean lives that have been impacted for the better. I really enjoy that. I have to be honest here. I also enjoy the freedom to do and be whatever I need to be at that moment. To be led my GOD and help people get results and mind blowing to me. I’m not in a box. Honey I’ll take a hammer and break that!

What is a quote that you live by?

When people show you who they are, believe them the first time. ~Maya Angelou

What do you want your legacy to look like?

I want my legacy to look like serving and wealth. Serving people’s needs, helping them heal, and solving problems. By wealth I mean, love, joy, peace, money, and health.

What else can we be on the lookout for from you?

You know what, to answer that would limit me. I have no idea what is all in front of me. What I do know and I’m saying this arrogantly but confidently, God has a bright future in place for all of us. I’m excited about what’s happening that I haven’t seen yet for me. Just stay connected. We are all about to find out what’s next!
