Marine Corps Veteran Dontrell “Uncle Loops” Lendsey Talks New Artist Development App ‘Music Mergers’

Music Mergers is a platform designed to simplify the search for talent. Music Mergers also gives a dedicated place for musicians to connect with industry professionals without the distractions of social media. The platform is both mobile and web-friendly and works as a monthly credit subscription format.

Music Mergers was founded by Dontrell “Uncle Loops” Lendsey, a Marine Corps veteran and corporate leader along with long-standing friend Brian “Excel Beats” Whittaker, a professional music producer with a very extensive background in the entertainment industry.

Uncle Loops has focused on developing professionals for the past seven years after finding that management needed the same level of focus as musicians. He has also worked with developing independent talent towards the success of being discovered by industry professionals.

We asked Uncle Loops a few questions to get the details on this innovative platform:

Please tell us about Music Mergers. When did it launch or when will it launch?

Uncle Loops: My name is Dontrell Lendsey professionally known as Uncle Loops. Music Mergers was conceived in 2012 after I as a young musician, got out of my recording contract with Vox Radio. I then partnered with Brian Whittaker professionally known as Excel Beats; founder of Eclipse Distro in 2020 with the vision of creating a music technology company to develop and connect musicians to the tools and resources that they would essentially need to evolve in their musical career.

With the vision that both of our companies had, we then merged them together to create a platform designed by musicians for musicians. Seeing that the independent music market was hit hard during the pandemic of 2020, our two companies began creating a mobile music distribution application and website geared towards facilitating a different approach for independent talent within any budget to basically give them an all in one distribution platform to help them understand how to enter the music business from an A to Z process.

Who are some of the decision-makers that musicians will be getting their music in front of?

Uncle Loops: The music business is all about relationships. Over the course of the past 20 years, Excel Beats and I have been building those relationships in all areas of the music business. Because of the responsiveness and ability to get things done in a meticulous manner, we have been able to connect with so many industry partners and veterans to help boost the careers of independent musicians. These relationships include music supervisors, program directors, award-winning producers, music managers, record labels, etc.

In what ways will Music Mergers be a game-changer to the music industry?

Uncle Loops: Music Mergers will revolutionize the way talent is developed and discovered. Our app will become the liaison between the artist and industry professionals, cutting out the middleman and getting feedback directly from the decision-makers. Music Mergers has created an individualized experience for all talent and music professionals who will signup and use the platform. When looking at traditional ways of getting discovered, Music Mergers significantly turns down the noise that causes distortion which unable’s an artists chances of being recognized in the music business.

For independent music artists that need their music and brand on larger platforms, what would you say to them?

Uncle Loops: We ask that the artist, producer, and/or label expeditiously get your music into our ecosystem. There are many ways that Music Mergers will be able to support artists. We not only have an application centered around talent discovery but we also offer artist advances up to 1 million dollars to those that may qualify. Not to mention we have a DIY music distribution element called ‘Eclipse Distro’. We also will be leading the way as a playlist marketing partner. The list goes on and on and on of our services. We are really making music mergers a one-stop-shop for any artist at any level.

What are you most excited about?

Uncle Loops: We are very excited about the artists that will be utilizing our platform to achieve their career goals, but also that they will be putting themselves in a position to become educated on the infrastructure of the business of music. We are also excited to see what our platform will do to bring more focus to the independent talent that has what it takes to make it in music but may not have a big budget. Our platform was created with the capability and capacity to give the starving artists of the world a chance to become viable.

What else are you currently working on?

Uncle Loops: We can’t reveal too much but just know we are building a suite of tools that will allow artists to manage their entire business from their phones.

Uncle Loops: Music Mergers is not your traditional music company. It was founded by musicians for musicians. The foundation of Music Mergers came from relationship building with failures and successes that Excel Beats and I both faced as our music careers evolved. With our knowledge and understanding that the independent music market is undermanaged, we set forth to shine a much-needed light on the talent in this underserved marketplace.
