Live Session with Skaiwater
Live Session with global genre-bending artist and producer skaiwater who just released his new single “Miles” featuring Lil Uzi Vert via Cinematic Group & Geffen Records. The single comes ahead of his forthcoming debut mixtape “Rave”. We talked about his journey, the defining moment he chose music as a career, and how he sees the artist/producer Skaiwater from the inside looking out.
This young lion began his journey in 2004 and saw his first big breakthrough in 2019 on the SoundCloud platform where he connected with Lil Nas X. The two became friends and worked together on music with skaiwater catching a writing credit on his hit “Holiday”, and well, the rest is history in the making!
Hailing from the UK, multi-faceted, skaiwater is also a producer and usually makes his own tracks however, for his upcoming mixtape, we found that he connected with producers on YouTube to round out the sound for the project and we discussed that a bit. I also got him to talk about whether, with all the music and sounds he hears and creates, is he able to listen to music as a consumer or does he always analyze what he hears…that was a fun section of the conversation.
Of particular interest for me in this Live Session, was his display of excitement just about making music, we see so much celebration of the money and accessories, that often we don’t get the feeling that for many artists, music is like air, they need it as much they need to breathe…skaiwater is different and his energy was infectious! I could keep typing about this cat but I’d rather you meet him for yourselves so…tune in!
This new single from skaiwater Miles featuring Lil Uzi Vert opens with a powerful dance music bass riff and adds carefully layered and nuanced instrumentation that is a perfect fit for the duo’s penchant for varying their timbre and intonation, but most of all it’s danceable and can certainly get the party started…or keep it going…check it out!
