Live Session with Legendary Crooner Freddie Jackson

Live Session with living legend Freddie Jackson who since the mid-1980s, has been a mainstay on Quiet Storm radio. When the sun went down, the moon rose, the candles were lit, and the wine poured, Freddie Jackson’s classics like “Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake)“, “Have You Ever Loved Somebody,” “Jam Tonight,” “Do Me Again,” “Tasty Love,” “You Are My Lady” and “Nice & Slow,” have been a part of our soundtrack for romance.

Much of Jackson’s success and longevity has come from singing songs that the heart recognizes. From its  orchestral opening on “Without You,” the first single released, to “Just For You,” written as a tribute to his  now departed mother, one thing that hasn’t changed is Freddie’s recipe for a great love song which he says  are “lyrics and melodies sung from the heart.”

Jackson continues“For me, a great R&B ballad is one that comes from the heart and soul. “It has to have a great melody, a beginning, middle and compelling end. And it needs to  tell the story of love.”

Soon, we’ll be enjoying a new jam from Jackson called “My First Love” which is dedicated to his mother.

We got into his journey, what continues to drive him to make his style of music, and so much more. This interview turned into a conversation that was amazing, to say the least. Plenty of laughter and common ground took us to nearly an hour with this freestyle interview in which Jackson held nothing back. He spoke as smoothly and emphatically as in each of his songs, sharing his soul’s love and connection to music and indeed the world because of it. We got into quite a bit and I had a great time meeting him, his charisma and positive energy shined through, as well as his grace. Jackson had a bit of a cold but he put up with my questions for quite a while and we agreed to do a follow-up when time permits…until then…Tune In!!!

Before I go, speaking to the folks of my generation, how many of you remember this situation in your household?

In a fun aside on his global smash hit, You are My Lady, Freddie Jackson says, “Men who don’t know how to say I am sorry will just put on “You are My Lady,” and the next thing they knew they were getting dinner and a little more! You Are My  Lady” has gotten a lot of guys out of a lot of trouble.”

Yup!!! Argument over!!!

And my parting shot…
