0Influencer & Jewelry-Maker “Tres D Beauty” On Her Favorite Spots Within Kansas City, Missouri
Named one of the “Best Trips 2019” by National Geographic Traveler, Kansas City, Missouri is one of those cities that has everything someone would want in a destination. Full of live entertainment, culinary destinations, museums, outdoor attractions, casinos and sporting events, Kansas City has no shortage of things to see or do no matter the time of year. And with direct flights to and from over 50 destinations — including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle and Las Vegas — KC is very accessible from major cities all over North America (and Iceland).
I had the pleasure of doing a 48-hour trip — Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon — to Kansas City, Missouri this month. In turn, I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of interesting individuals with ties to the KC area. One of them was model, jewelry-maker and beauty-oriented influencer known to many followers online as Tres D Beauty. Below is my Q&A with Tres D Beauty, who can be visited online via tresdbeauty.blogspot.com, while more on the wonderful KC is at www.visitkc.com.
What do you enjoy most about Kansas City?
Tres D Beauty: I grew up in Kansas City, so naturally it has a very home feel. But I really think it would offer that feeling to anyone who visits. I like the size and simplicity. It isn’t large like New York or Chicago, so you can quickly get to wherever you’re going — The Country Club Plaza, The River Market, Union Station, even the Royals’ stadium isn’t that far compared to other cities. And the people here are very genuine. Walking into a breakfast joint, everyone seems to be all smiles. And they are very supportive of anyone from KC. Win or lose, they are always rooting for their beloved Chiefs and Royals.
What do you wish more people knew about Kansas City?
Tres D Beauty: That it isn’t farm land. I constantly receive Dorothy jokes — The Wizard Of Oz… There are so many places to see even though it’s a smaller city. One being The Country Club Plaza. The architecture is so beautiful, and some of my greatest memories are here. It offers several stores and restaurants that will ensure you have a lovely day whether you are catching a quick lunch, or simply window-shopping. Spending a day on the Plaza with my loved ones is the best feeling.
Do you have a favorite restaurant in Kansas City?
Tres D Beauty: My fiancé and I always visit Aladdin’s Cafe when we’re in town. Their lentil soup is the greatest lentil soup either of us have ever had. It’s definitely a must for Mediterranean cuisine! There are also a lot of vegetarian options.
What was the last concert you saw in Kansas City?
Tres D Beauty: Alice In Chains at The Midland. That venue is a really cool space, so to see them blowing everyone away there was pretty amazing. I love watching them play my hometown especially.
Is there any city in the world that reminds you of Kansas City?
Tres D Beauty: Atlanta — Atlanta is a lot larger and has a larger nightlife and shopping scene, but all of the foliage and surrounding neighborhoods brings me so much happiness. It has a really fun, lit up vibe, but it also gives me the same home feeling which I love.
Have you been to any of the other towns or cities named “Kansas City” in the States?
Tres D Beauty: Only Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri, of course.
Finally, any last words for the kids?
Tres D Beauty: I have a crystal jewelry shop and a green beauty blog where I share healthier recipes and alternatives for body care products and D.I.Y.’s. I’d love for you to check it out: Etsy.com/shop/TDGemstones. Also there’s TresDBeauty.Blogspot.com and I’m on Instagram: Tressvv.
