Michael Jai White On His New Film “The Commando,” Upcoming Projects, Work Ethic & More

In The Commando, a new edge-of-your-seat crime thriller starring Michael Jai White, Mickey Rourke, Jeff Fahey, Aris Mejias, Gianni Capaldi andDonald “Cowboy” Cerrone — due out on January 7, 2021 via Saban Films — an elite DEA agent (played by White) returns home after a failed mission when his family makes an unexpected discovery in their house: a stash of money worth $3 million. They soon face the danger and threat of a newly released criminal (played by Rourke) and his crew who will do whatever it takes to retrieve the money, including kidnap the agent’s daughters. Stakes are high and lives are at risk in this head-to-head battle as the agent stops at nothing to protect his family.

The aforementioned Michael Jai White is an American actor, director and martial artist, notably the first African-American to portray a major comic book superhero in a major motion picture, thanks to 1997’s Spawn. White found success in both the dramatic and comedic worlds, acting in multiple Tyler Perry projects, portraying Mike Tyson in a bio-pic and starring in both the film and animated versions of Black Dynamite. The Commando is just one of his films slated for a 2022 release, following a slate of new releases in 2021, as White always seems to have several major projects in-progress.

On December 21, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Michael Jai White via Zoom, as embedded below. More on White and The Commando can be found online by clicking here, here and here.
